Student Assembly
Over 300 film majors attended the first Film Department assembly in the Student Union Ballroom, on Wednesday Sept. 9th. Student got the opportunity to mingle with each other. Faculty members were introduced, and track electives were explained. The assembly was rounded off with screening of student works.

CineVegas 2008
Work from UNLV students and faculty was featured in a number of programs at CineVegas this summer:
- Primo — World Premiere of UNLV feature-length co-curricular project, written and directed by Film Department Chair, Professor Francisco Menendez, produced by Film Department Director of Operations, Warren Cobb, and crewed by film department students.
- Wedding Day — Short film written, produced, and directed by Associate Professor David Schmoeller.
- UNLV Filmmaker Showcase — Showcase featuring short films of UNLV Film Students.
